Re: Antonio - Legend
We depend on him massively and have done for years now. If he’s on form, even if he’s not putting the chances way, he opens things up for the rest of the side - if he’s in can’t hit a barn door phase then the whole side plays poorly.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Last couple of games he’s reminded us what he’s all about. He was an absolute steal in monetary terms. That’s been paid back many times over. But it’s not about money at the end of the day, it’s what he’s done for us. Lanzini gets the legendary status for me for the Spurs goal alone, so surely the same applies to Antonio for all the goals he’s scored.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Legend is subjective but he has given us a lot of special moments and many funny ones but I will always have fond memories.

.....and jimmy did it playing alongside morley. another legend with a better strike rate

Re: Antonio - Legend
you fucking turn it in. you're digging people out because they don't agree with your latest obsession with a bloke that's scored three goals in twenty seven league games this season. doesn't your tiny brain not see any connection between such a shit strike rate, and why we've been fighting relegation for most of the season?

Oh turn it in, ffs.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Wouldn't call him a legend

But Antonio has been with us a decent amount of time compared to most in the modern times. He has scored some very important goals in important games and fucking missed a shit load of sitters. But give him his due he has made the most of his potential at West Ham and how many players can you say that about in the last decade

Miike - Yea, in the old league 2.

Helps us win something this year throw in that last performance do the same semi & final not even having to score, join it all up with his long service and great goals he has given us.
Legend yes.

Oh, I see. Yea, let's all pick the invisible Italian and old man Ings instead :-)

Re: Antonio - Legend
Yeah, I take your point, but the thing is, when most people pick their own starting 11 they're probably not going with Moyes' usual system, because a) it's shit and b) we don't have other strikers who can really play that way.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Cult Hero for goals v Spurs I can see

Legend - because he shows that athletic ability over any kind of skill can see you play in the prem for years… yeah I’m not having that.

Seems a nice enough bloke but refusing to play in certain positions and being bereft off any technical ability puts him way down the list for me

Manuel 9:26 Sun Apr 23
Re: Antonio - Legend
Nagel - Who would you play as the forward in our system then, if not Antonio?

Nagel 9:15 Sun Apr 23
Re: Antonio - Legend
"Utterly despised by many on here for some reason, very often not in a posters starting eleven."

Probably not in many people's starting eleven because he plays as a centre forward and has scored just 1 goal in his 15 starts this season. In the last 18 months he's got 7 in 60+ games. Personally I'd rather see him as a winger, unless we were playing two up front.
